Iraq summons the Turkish ambassador and delivers a protest paper against the raids that targeted sites in northern Iraq

Today, Tuesday, the Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned the Turkish ambassador to Baghdad and delivered a memorandum of protest against the background of the Turkish bombing that affected a number of regions in northern Iraq.

According to the statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the oldest Undersecretary, Ambassador Abdul Karim Hashem, who handed over the Turkish ambassador the protest note.

The memorandum included the Iraqi government‘s condemnation of violations of the sanctity and sovereignty of Iraqi lands and airspace, and considered that it is contrary to international conventions, relevant rules of international law, friendship relations, principles of good neighborliness, and mutual respect.

In its memo, the ministry reiterated its call to neighboring Turkey to stop unilateral military operations, and expressed the Iraqi government’s readiness for joint cooperation in controlling security on the borders in a manner that secures the interests of both sides.

The memorandum concluded by calling the Turkish embassy to transfer it to the competent Turkish authorities to take measures to end these violations and prevent their occurrence in the future.
