He said that China will start building the headquarters of the African Center for Disease Control and Prevention this year, and will work with the African side to implement the “health care initiative” within the framework of Chinese-African Cooperation Forum accelerate the building of Chinese-African friendship hospitals, and jointly create the China-Africa health community.

China will exempt the concerned African countries from interest-free loans due until the end of 2020, and will continue to postpone the payment of debts of African countries that are under great pressure, and will encourage relevant Chinese financial institutions to consult with them on Sovereign Commercial Loan Arrangements according to the market principle and based on G20 initiative to reduce its debt burden.

He also expressed his hope that the international community, especially the developed countries and the multilateral financial bodies, would adopt more effective measures in the issue of reducing the debt burden on African countries, calling on G20 to continue to postpone the date of payment of the debts of the countries concerned, with the African countries in them.

President Xi stressed the need for coordination between China and Africa, a firm commitment to multilateralism, opposition to the politicization of the epidemic, stigmatization of any country or people with the virus, rejection of racial discrimination and ideological bias, and firm defense of international justice.

Xi added that China is willing to work with the African side to maintain the global governance system and its core the United Nations, support the World Health Organization to make greater contributions to the global fight against the epidemic, protect the fundamental interests of China, Africa and developing countries, and promote the development of a comprehensive high-level strategic cooperation partnership between the two parties .
