Kuwait has threatened to apply the principle of “reciprocity” in dealing with citizens of European Union countries regarding allowing entry to its territory.
This comes after a draft of the list of countries whose European Union will allow its nationals to enter its countries as of July 1, after canceling the precautionary measures to confront the Corona virus, showed that it includes 54 countries, not including Kuwait and other Gulf countries.
The Kuwaiti Assistant Foreign Minister for European Affairs, Walid Al-Khabizi, stressed that: “In the event that Kuwait is not included in the aforementioned list, all options will be on the application of the principle of reciprocity to citizens of European Union countries upon entering the country.” He pointed out that “there are a number of Countries outside the European Union have not set requirements for Kuwaitis to enter their territories.
He added that “there are bilateral agreements between Kuwait and the European countries, each separately, in relation to several sectors, including education and treatment,” surprising “this approach from the new administration in the European Commission in the event of its occurrence.”
