The Supreme Council of Tourism approves a response plan to mitigate the negative effects of Corona and approves criteria and controls for the resumption of tourism sector activity

The Supreme Council of Tourism approved the response plan prepared by the Ministry of Tourism in the direct, medium and long term to mitigate the negative effects caused by the measures to tackle the Corona epidemic on the tourism sector.

The plan included the granting of operating loans to small and medium-sized tourism enterprises, exemption from investment charges and local administration fees, and the consideration of the period of suspension as justified by the contractual periods of tourism projects in progress.

During its meeting today, headed by Eng. Imad Khamis, Prime Minister, the Council approved the criteria and controls prepared by the Ministry of Tourism and the Federation of Chambers of Tourism to resume the activity of the tourism sector in the coming period.

The Council approved the proposed facilities for tourist establishments affected by terrorism to return to work by exempting them from building permits fees, completing the tax exemption period for damaged or forcibly closed overnight establishments, and including damaged overnight facilities by exempting their imports for renewal from customs duties.

The Council agreed to establish the “Syrian Company for Hotel Management” to manage hotel establishments in accordance with the best international standards and to set up the next tourism investment forum in the city of Aleppo when appropriate conditions are available.
