President Bashar Al-Assad met today with the governmental group concerned with confronting the Corona pandemic and its repercussions, where the latest developments in confronting the pandemic and its effects on the daily life of citizens, especially at the living level, were discussed.

President al-Assad said that this meeting comes after a few weeks after the application of precautionary measures and after several months of the spread of the pandemic, and the deep and clear effects it left have accelerated unabated, especially in light of the absence of anything concrete until now to confront this pandemic.

President Al-Assad added: With regard to the situation in Syria, we have quickly and immediately undertaken a deliberate series of measures to protect citizens, including the imposition of a partial ban across the country and the response and awareness of citizens in addition to the rapid movement by the state that had a major role in slowing the spread of the Corona virus, but that These measures had many negatives, chief among them the economic aspect, as the burden of living on the citizenry increased, and with the fact that the Corona pandemic is not transient, it was necessary to go back to normal life in order to reduce the unprecedented pressure that the citizen experienced during this period, but under the regulations It is set by the government on the one hand and holding the citizen responsible for protecting himself through his daily behavior on the other hand.

President Al-Assad clarified that, in parallel with the health challenge, there is another challenge, which is the economic challenge that we face after a continuous war that has lasted for more than nine years, and an unfair siege on the people. The greedy and created a state of monopoly in order to achieve obscene profits at the expense of citizens by raising prices.

President Al-Assad stressed that the above problems and challenges do not mean that we are unable to do anything, but there are many measures that the government can take in a way that positively affects the life of the citizen and secure his needs, the most important of which is finding solutions to the difference in prices of food crops produced locally between farms and citizens and this can In the event that the intermediary links between them are broken and the state is a major player in the market, which leads to price reductions through economic institutions affiliated with the public sector, foremost of which is the Syrian Trade Corporation, which should play the primary merchant role, but for the benefit of the citizen.

President Al-Assad considered that opening markets to farmers to sell their products directly to citizens inside the cities, as happened in many regions recently, in addition to prosecuting violators and tightening penalties against manipulators on the issue of prices, bills and trafficking in subsidized materials will create a deterrent in front of the greed of some traders and manipulators of the citizens ’strength, stressing the participation of the local community with Concerned institutions to play the role of watchdog on price controls.

President Al-Assad indicated that the government should be more dynamic in addressing these points and act quickly, but considered to enhance the role of public sector institutions if it was to give them the necessary powers or change their internal systems so that these institutions are more flexible and capable of positive intervention, and then there will be results And quick positive repercussions on citizens and soon.

After that, President Al-Assad listened to the opinions of the attendees and their interventions, and a dialogue took place on the mechanisms and procedures to reduce prices, where President Al-Assad directed the members of the group to submit proposals in this regard and expedite the preparation or amendment of laws related to tightening penalties for violating and monopolistic merchants.
