The office of the spokesperson for Brazil’s President, Javier Bolsonaro, said: “Tests have confirmed the spokesperson Otavio de Rego Barros, with the emerging corona virus.”
In a statement, the office added that Barros, 59, is currently being quarantined at his home and has not had symptoms of HIV infection.
The statement added that the office workers are awaiting in their homes the results of Corona tests.
The announcement raises more questions about the possibility of the President being infected with the virus.
In addition, the daily death toll from the Corona virus in Brazil rose to record on Tuesday.
The Ministry of Health said that it had recorded 6,935 new cases of the virus since Monday evening and 600 deaths.
