Health authorities in the US city of Los Angeles have announced the death of a teenager who was infected with the emerging corona virus, in the first death recorded in the United States by a person under the age of 18.
The Los Angeles County Public Health Committee confirmed on Tuesday that it had calculated the death of 3 additional people with the virus, and it concerned adults (50 and 70 years) and a “teenager under the age of 18” who lived in Lancaster, 40 kilometers north of Los Angeles.
This is the first death recorded in the United States by a minor who is infected with the virus, where experts believe that it is extremely rare for the new virus to cause serious complications in children, and there are a very limited number of children in the world who have contracted the virus and died.
For his part, US President Donald Trump announced today a state of emergency in Louisiana, describing what the state is witnessing due to the outbreak of the Corona virus as a “major catastrophe”.
The United States is facing a rapid increase in the number of people infected with the Corona virus, as the number of infected people in the country reached about 53 thousand cases, including more than 680 people.
