The International Monetary Fund predicts that the Corona-Covid-19 epidemic will have a severe impact on the global economy.
The head of the International Monetary Fund’s policy and strategy review, Martin Muilawizen, said on Friday that the Corona virus epidemic will be severe, but added that this “comes after a long period of growth and high employment rates which will allow the global economy to absorb the current shock.”
Muelizen said in a press statement that the main goal of governments should be to limit the spread of the virus in a manner that creates confidence that the economic shock will be temporary.
He said that banks and governments have already taken unprecedented steps to provide liquidity to the markets and facilitate the continuation of their work, perhaps more than we needed, but such steps should be coordinated globally to maximize their impact.
“The better organized and more coordinated health responses to the crisis, the faster the confidence can be restored,” the IMF official added.
