Today, Syria is entering a new level of precautionary measures to tackle the Corona virus, with the closure of markets, commercial, service, cultural, and social activities, except for centers and shops selling food and catering materials, pharmacies, private health centers and service facilities concerned with ensuring the continuity of public life amid assurances from the Ministry of Health not to record any confirmed infection with the emerging virus until right Now.
Until further notice, and according to the circular of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers yesterday, Saturday, the precautionary closure aims to reduce the movement of citizens in markets and other public places to the lowest possible level in the interest of safety and public health.
With the beginning of the day, movement in the streets witnessed a noticeable decrease, while reducing the number of permanent workers in the regions in which it is necessary to continue to work to the lowest possible level, without including production facilities.
Syria has started its proactive measures with health measures at the border crossings to ensure the safety of those coming to the country.
On the first of March, with the increasing spread of the new virus in the countries of the world and the recording of cases of injuries and deaths in neighboring countries, the decision was taken to temporarily suspend the entry of tourist groups from the countries that announced the presence of infections among their citizens.
On the 8th of March, the Council of Ministers decided to suspend visits and trips with neighboring countries “Iraq and Jordan”, individuals and groups, including religious tourism, for a month and the countries that declared the state of the epidemic for two months, and to conduct a 14-day precautionary quarantine for Syrians coming from these countries to ensure their safety.
On the 13th of March, the government raised the level of its proactive measures, as it was decided to suspend working hours in universities, schools, and public and private technical institutes in all ministries and relevant authorities from 3/14 to Thursday 4-4 and reduce the size of workers in the administrative public sector institutions to 40 limits. Percent with an expansion in the provision of quarantine centers at a rate of two centers in each governorate and providing them with the necessary material and human equipment.
In mid-March, the government obligated laboratories of the private sector producing cleaning materials and sterilizers to operate at their maximum capacity by no less than three imports per day to secure the needs of citizens and health centers from these materials and to ensure their presence in commercial outlets in the governorates without any increase in prices.
On March 17, the government tightened its procedures by closing citizen service centers in all governorates, popular parks, public parks, cinemas, theaters, clubs, nightclubs, halls for weddings, mourning, sports clubs, children’s clubs, children’s playrooms, Internet cafes, and preventing customers from receiving meals in stores.
The Ministry of Interior also circulated on the 19th of this month a decision on preventing entry of Arabs and foreigners for a period ranging between one and two months, depending on the country coming from it, while allowing the Syrian citizens coming from some countries who do not have any symptoms of entry to be isolated from the home and followed up by the investigation team Depending on their place of residence for a period of 14 days, those who have symptoms of infection are transferred to the Dwair Center for Quarantine for a period of 14 days.
With the precautionary suspension of all activities, governmental and private institutions continue to operate, the first of which are hospitals and health centers that have declared their readiness to respond to suspected cases and injuries if registered, in addition to productive facilities, water and electricity institutions, bakeries, and the halls of the Syrian Trade Corporation and stores selling food, vegetables, fruits, pharmacies and other institutions that require the nature of their work to continue. Service to ensure the provision of the necessary needs of citizens and prevent any bottlenecks.
The World Health Organization announced yesterday that the number of cases of corona virus around the world reached 266 thousand, and deaths more than 11 thousand.
