Dr. Boutros Nasrallah (Infectious Diseases Specialist) explained that there are three stages of the spread of the Corona virus, which are the beginning, the peak, and the regression, and they differ from one country to another indicating that Syria is still in the beginning stage with regard to the spread of the virus due to the small number of infections.
And the specialist Nasrallah indicated that keeping people in homes as much as possible, avoiding gatherings and adhering to precautionary government measures helps in stopping at the beginning stage and not reaching the peak.
Nasrallah pointed out that the goal of staying at home for 14 days, which is the incubation period of the disease, is to confine people to three categories, the first that has already had mild symptoms in order to recover, the second that was infected with severe symptoms to receive appropriate care in the hospital, and the third that did not hurt to protect it. Indicating that caution in this period breaks transmission of infection and prevents new infections.
Dr. Nasrallah said that Syria is still in “relative safety” with a small number of injuries and to reach the full safety stage, we must adhere to the recommendations of public cleanliness and avoid places of crowding and thus not repeat the experience of China, Europe and America to reach the peak.
On the decline of the epidemic with increasing temperatures, Nasrallah added that “the temperature above 30 to 35 degrees associated with drought kills the virus within about two hours, but it cannot be dealt with as an absolute fact, as there are countries where temperatures are high and injuries are recorded.”
Nasrallah pointed out that the information about the virus is constantly changing with the registration of larger infections and the conducting of studies and broader research. The more cases increase, the doctors have more knowledge about the correct methods of diagnosis, management, treatment and information about the transmission of infection and others.
