The Syrian Foreign Ministry welcomed any Russian role that contributes to the reconstruction of the country after the war, and said that Damascus has no preconditions regarding Russian participation in this march.
The Syrian Deputy Foreign Minister, Faisal al-Miqdad, appreciated the Russian role in supporting his country regarding efforts to rebuild the country after 10 years of war, and affirmed Damascus‘ welcome for Russia’s participation in all aspects of economic reconstruction.

And Moscow demanded, earlier, to lift US sanctions on Damascus in order to help the country recover economically and create conditions for the return of Syrian refugees to their country.
In his speech, Al-Miqdad praised those Russian efforts, saying, “Russia is doing its best. Russia calls on the international community to support Syria in the reconstruction process. The Syrian official stressed that, despite the potential international partners ’assistance to his country, the Syrian people must have control over their future and choose the path that the country will take in the future.
“We believe that the political future and reconstruction must be decided by the Syrians themselves, without any foreign interference or preconditions,” the Syrian deputy foreign minister said.
It is noteworthy that Russian President Vladimir Putin and German Chancellor Angela Merkel discussed last January the issue of the reconstruction of Syria, and the Russian President said at the time that discussions about reconstruction and efforts to improve the humanitarian situation and achieve the safe return of refugees should take place in consultation with the Syrian government itself.
The Syrian government has regained control of most of the country’s lands with the exception of Idlib Governorate and some small enclaves around it.
