” manufactured and installed the first wind turbine in 2019 with a capacity of 2.5 megawatts and a weight of 2500 tons, as it was operated and linked with the public electricity network in Syria, and it is earthquake-resistant to a power of 10 degrees on the Richter scale, in addition to the presence of protection systems From lightning strikes, it also includes 800 sensor and electronic signal, and they are interconnected minds to ensure the workflow with high efficiency and maximum safety, and can continue to work 24 hours for a period of 25 years, and produces electrical energy that covers its costs fully after three years of operation.
It is worth noting that the wind turbine installed in the Al-Thahabiya region has supplied the public electricity network with more than 1 million kilowatt hours so far.
The benefits of wind turbine
Wind turbine has been installed on the Homs-Tartous highway in Al-Thahabiya region west of Homs city, and this region is characterized by strong winds, which nominated it to be a fertile place to take advantage of the amount of wind that helps to generate clean electrical energy. Wind turbine was completely manufactured in the company “Woodfam” by Syrian engineers, experts, workers and experiences with Syria, as this is a major reason for occupying the first position in Syria and the Middle East and North Africa, where Woodfam manufactured wind turbine in all its parts by 80%, while it was done Importing the so-called wind turbine brain or the part responsible for automating the processes of converting wind energy into electrical energy that is inside the blade at the head of the wind turbine.
Difficulties encountered by the company during manufacturing
One of the challenges faced by ” WDRVM ” is to transfer the turbine from the manufacturing place in the industrial Hasia to the installation site near the Shien Bridge in the western countryside of Homs, due to the lack of any mechanism capable of transporting it at the local level, where ” WDRVM ” manufactured its own mechanism To transfer turbine parts and parts such as blades, the company also purchased a special crane with a weight of 1200 tons and can lift 650 tons at a height of 167 meters.

The main objective is to change the concept of the Syrian industry in the region and the world, make the most of wind resources and harness them to serve Syria by making and installing wind turbines in various regions of Syria and contribute to improving the future of alternative and clean energies in Syria, especially since Syria has the largest wind potential in the region, as an example: countries Adjacent to Syria in the north as a geographical area is four times larger than Syria and has approximately 80 gigawatts of wind potential and Syria as a geographic area smaller than it and has the same wind potential approximately 80 gigawatts.
